Ethanol blended fuel and jetting 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Here in the great state of Oklahoma I am seeing more and more blended fuel. At this time I can still buy straight gasoline but I think the days for this are numbered. I have had fellow riders tell me that they can tell a significant drop in the performance of their bikes when running blended fuel. I am curious if others on this board have experienced this and how they have dealt with the problem. I have limited experience in jetting for ethanol so I'm curious to see just how much the jetting will change. Any advice or experience right now could be a wonderful thing.

You can get a lot of good information about this by looking back at some threads over the last couple weeks. One was "Ethanol - Friend or Foe" and "Corn free Regular" thay give some pretty good insights.

How are things in T-town. My kids go to school there. We are up there all the time and usually stay at the Maverick downtown. If I get up there on the scoot I will let you know and we can get together.

SoonerFlash I live in OKC and have a 2001 Road Star wtih V&H Longshots on it. I used to use the ethanol blend you got at the local store because it was cheap. After they started posting ethanol content on the pumps I switched to the more expensive 100% gas. I was getting about 34 to 35 MPG with the ethanol blend in town. I now get no less than 40 MPG in town with the 100% gas. I have not went out of town to check the highway mileage yet. I did notice that my bike does run better with the 100%gas.

I do not know if my bike has been jetted or not because it has the V&H Longshots on it. I hope to change to a BAK one day this year. I know this is the best clinic and only place to get the information you need.

I can not for the life of me find ANY gas pumps in the Dallas area that doesn't have the "up to 10% ethanol" sticker on it

Underdog2003 here in OKC almost all of the large chains have the 10% ethanol. I have found the chain that has the 100% gas here is Valero stations. Good luck I have to search here but it is that chain or the small stations that have it here.

I haven't checked them out here to be honest. I figured them for a discount gasoline so I assumed there was no way they wouldn't also have the blend.

How did you know for sure that the valero's up there have 100% gas? Is it because they don't have the "up to" sticker on their pumps or did you ask them?

I went to a local shell here and saw that a pump with the diesel handle on there in addition to the regular gas handle did not have the "up to" sticker on there, where as all the other pumps at that same store did. Go figure.

So I don't know how reliable the sticker being there or not really is because I find it hard to believe that one pump out of the 6 pumps at that one particular shell gas station serves 100% gas when the others don't.

I know here if one pump says it has the ten percent I would think that all the pumps will. I know here in OKC if they have the real gas they have big signs up out front of the station. I do know I get better mileage with it in my bike and my car.

Since I first posted I have found a independent that still sells 100% gas. The 100% does make a difference. It goes back to the saying you get what you pay for.
