I have an 05 and still run 4.3 qts. has your bike been rejeted or the stock set up? Do you run any seafoam on a regular basis? I use 4 oz every other tank. Just changed my plugs and they were perfect. No signs of SVS yet.

I use 4 quarts only in my '05. Run some Marvel Mystery Oil in with the gas. No signs of SVS at 26,000 miles+.

How much MMO are you guys adding? Should I be doing this on my 07? Not sure if SVS addressed by factory by 07.

Thanks BB! I use to hang around some boat guys. Main mechanic always fogged boat motors with MMO when winterizing.

4 qts. is plenty, I had to have the rear head pulled to clean everything up when I had SVS. 3 months later it started acting up again a little, I did a 'ring free' shock treatment on it, got more aggressive with the riding every now and then.... (hit rev limiter every day I ride) ...no more 50 mph in 5th for long rides , and put a couple caps of mmo in the gas every couple tanks. Hasnt come back in a year and runs stronger than ever.

No not stock BAK,167.5 main, needle on the 4th,3 turns out on pms, V&H longshots no baffles, been fighting this for a while filled the heads full of deep creep through the plugs holes and carb last time, changed plugs & oil and it ran great for about 1500 miles, started acting up again the other morning. So this time I did it Curts way and pulled the pipes and soaked her down. Gonna run through this tank and change the plugs and oil again. Bought some MMO to start using too.

I have an '06 and about twice per month I put some Seafoam in the gas (1oz per gallon) and all has been good so far @ 15,000 mi. Also, I only put in 4 qts of oil when the changing the oil & filter every 4,000. I use synthetic. Yamaha no longer recommends the extra .3qt. 4 is all you need.

After my 3rd hit with the SVS on my 07. The Yamaha rep told my dealer to that the oil should be around 3100ml. (A bit over 3.25 qts.)Then they took the jetting back to stock and adjusted the difference in the pms screw. Been running good ever since. I mentioned the procedure the dealer told me in a different thread. If you type in Possible Bad Coil in the forum search you can find the link. Good luck!
