I have an 05 myself and went through the
SVS problem 3 times before I finally fixed it.
I first used the seafoam. I did the shock treatment, got on the interstate and ran the crap out of it for the full tank of gas, changed the oil and oil filter after that.
When I added new oil I put in 3 1/2 quarts.
Next I changed the way I warm the bike up and the way I ride it (a little).
First when I first start it I pull the enricher knob out two clicks and start it. I let it idle for about 1 minute then put the knob in to 1 click out. Again I let it idle for around a minute or until I can crack the throttle. Then I push the knob all the way in and go.
I keep the
RPM's up in 1st and 2nd gear and in fact try to keep the RPM's up till I hit cruising speed.
You can see my
carb setup in my profile.
Also I would recommend doing the choke cable mod that Musky put up in the tech articles. I discovered after doing the mod that my enricher was always on just a little and I'm sure that didn't help with the SVS problem. Got around 4,000 miles since I did the fix with no problems.
