no big deal, like I said on the triumph site they have a jet caculator. You punch in the exhaust you have, air kit if any, and elevation and it tells you what jets you should be using and where to place the clip on the needle. Seems easy enough but I'm no computer pro so God only knows how much went into it.

Considering all the different exhausts, air kits, elevations, climates, and other variables I'd say quite a bit went into it.

But man what a great piece of software that would be for the forum.
I know we have some programmer's here, don't we?

Some one created a doc file a while ago that had the setting for alot of the members who had there's in there profiles. That was a big help for me to come up with a starting point.

Unfortunately jetting is not as simple as looking at another persons setup and duplicating it or punching some numbers into a model and out comes your jetting setup. If it was, our jetting Forum would not have so many threads in it (5000+).

Jetting is an art. 95% of the time, if someone changes pipes and aircleaner, the setup we recommend will work just fine. The other 4% of the folks need to go leaner due to other factors such as elevation and for 1%, the settings don't work. (And these are not statistically accurate numbers. )

But ...... this is where the art comes in. If you want to get the optimum setting for your circumstances you need to further refine from those base settings. Small changes such as the replacement of a silver washer with a purple one can have effects on your setup .... something that most folks don't really take the time to investigate. Who wants to take of the carb and rejet 50 times (except Curt ). I put more restrictive baffles in my pipes and went down one size on the main jet.

I believe that for us to set up a database of members' carb settings is more work than it's worth and can give some people erroneous information .... "Why is my bike running badly? I have the same jetting as X." How do you know those are optimum settings? BTW ..... in case folks don't know .... if you feel that you have the same setup as me, then check my profile .... my carb settings are there.

On the other hand, if a member wants to take up the challenge of setting up a database and upkeeping it then don't let my comments stand in your way.

Comparing settings is good .... but only as a starting point to get your carb optimized for you circumstances.

I agree Doc, it should only be used as a starting point. I would rather use info from this site than the instructions that came with the jet kit. You'll get about 4mpg with their settings...

What that says you can find written here 100s of times. Those are the starting settings we give people here most of the time too. It's pretty much the official unofficial universal Roadie starting and tweaking points. "Tweaking" being the key word. You have to be willing to work at it until it's right for your bike.

I'll be entering the realm of "tweaking" in September. Fortunately I have a bike shop just down the road with a dyno setup. The numbers posted in the chart Nazuma created will aid a novice like me a lot. But like Doc and Musky and others have stated each bike has it's own personality and no 2 carb settings are alike. Thanks for the time and (repetitious) effort everyone.
