installation of makuni 42mm carb on 04 Road* 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago  
I could really use help on the installation of a 42mm carb on my 04 Road* I can not figure out the cable to the carb will the stock cables work?

Try the Road Star Riders Forum Bruzer.Lot of good post there on the
42 few more guys over there with the 42 than here

Going to depend which 42hsr ya got. The yamaha speedstar 42hsr uses both stock cables, and the fuel pump. Other 42hsr do not use fuel pump, and use only pull cable and some mods to get it to work with stock cable. Or you will need to get a new cable if you do not want to mod the brkt.
