Jetting 5 Years, 7 Months ago
Hey I guys, I just rejeted the 06 1700 with the roadstar jet kit. It ran great until my pms screw keeps backing out. I am on fourth adjustment because the durn thing wont stay put. It is driving me nuts. I have streched the spring out just a little I hope thius will help. The Question now is it seems to be loading up from low range to midrange at hard excel. It starts missing and back fireing to the point of stalling out. It seems when I let off of the throtle it clears up. Iam confused. Help! Oh yea I have the stage 2 drag pipes and the K&n filter set up.

165 main, 50 Pilot, Set on to 4th clip postion, 2 turns on pms screw.

Thanks for the reply. I tryed locktite, could not get it in quick enough before it dryed, thought I crossed threaded the durn thing, had to clean of locktite in order to screw back in. I did strech the spring, I think that has helped, still testing.
I have turn the pms screw to 3/4 turn out and it has cleaned up quite a bit. Still testing.I hope it is not to lean.

What jet kit are you using? Mikuni jets?

I think you're too rich on the pilot. It's usually not necessary to use other than the stock #35. A #50 is very rich.

What happens when you do the WOT test?

I like using teflon tape on my pms, same stuff plumbers use.. wrap a few times and it snugs it up tightly... that being said I know locktite makes a "purple" version that is specifically for anti vibration backout... I've never seen it in the stores but it's not sposed to lock it in, but tighten it up so that it won't vibrate out... ~Guido

WOT test shows to be just right on the main jet. I is running great at moment with the pms screw set out at 3/4 turn out. As for the Pilot jet being to rich I agree, but it will not run with the stock pilot 35A . I think the high flow air breather will not allow it suck fuel from the 35A pilot jet, only the 50 pilot jet. What do you think?

Holy smokes

What kind of Loctite are you using??
Loctites are anaerobic ...they cure in the absence of air and takes 15-20 min

PS green loctite is wicking type and is applied after assembly to exposed portion of the thread and wicks into the unexposed portion

PS... and Guido... get a tube of Loctite liquid teflon sealant.. does a better job of sealing hyd fittings etc than tape

Tape is good for larger fittings

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2006/10/14 11:29

I`ve decided to try something differant. In trying to achive simelar results of high MPG`s I noticed if you go to lean MPG`s also suffer. So before going to a
Baron`s kit I`m gonna drop in the DJ195,set needle at 3rd clip and start with the
PMS at 2.When I originally had the bike Dyno`ed,DJ190,3rd clip,PMS at 3.
Results......ran like a vegasdave out hell 68.9 HP & 97 Foot pounds of touque.
MPG`s fair
Plus I need something to Do
