Thought it was svs but now i don't know any sugges 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Thought I had svs...05 Roadie thought I had it cured I've treated and seafoamed even did it Curts way rejetted, replugged, lowered oil level ....everything but the same problem keeps coming back. Soon as I hit 4th gear for the first time of the day in about a 1/4 mile bike kinda loses power if I pull in on the clutch all you hear is fft fft fft fft fft almost like its out of fuel.If you coast along with the clutch in for a few seconds the normal idle comes back , giver the gas and get back up to speed does the same thing pull in clutch same thing idle comes back to normal . Sometimes it does this for a mile sometimes for 3 or 4 miles. I can put new plugs in and it goes away for about 2 tanks but when I take the plugs out they aren't fouled. I'm running a 167.5 main, needle on the 5th, pms 2 1/2 turns out. No way its rich. oh yeah V&H longshots no baff. and a BAK. I'm just bumfuzzled.

Are you still running the stock coils and wires? If you are do you still have the resistors in the plug caps? Check the coils with a meter too.

The 167.5 Jet, is that a stock Mikuni Jet or some other jetting kit? First, I would think you were running lean. Jets are different with different kits. Mine was Kuryakyn and I ran a Mikuni 185.

Second, if you haven't had the valve guides reamed, then you still have SVS. Seafoam and the other additives only bandaid the problem, they don't fix it. Get the valve guides fixed, then your problem will really go away.

But, you don't have to listen to me. I've got a Harley.

Be sure your not running full choke for to long when you first start your bike.. That will cause you problems like you describe... Never run full choke for more than a few seconds...

Still got the stock coils...What resistors?
As for choke doesn't matter if I choke it at all or for 5 minutes same deal. Float level i don't know but why would it catch up after a few miles? 167.5 mik.main Seems like the fuel filter would choke out warm or cold.... Hell guys I just don't know.

russdustus I don't agree with the valve guide thing. I am living proof that if you cure the SVS and jet the bike correctly you will never have SVS again. You can ask BillJr as he has ridden my bike and I fought my 05 SVS for over 8000 miles. Dozer you need some back pressure to make it run right and I think the 167.5 is to lean. Make sure you have no air leaks, get something in the pipes to give you some back pressure. If you can't find baffles then give me the measurements for your pipes and I will make you a set of torque cones. I think your main should be around 170 maybe even the 172.5 that BAK says to start with and the e clip on 4. Run the PMS in till it stumbles and slowly back it out until it starts to idle smooth and stop. Once you set then ride and tweak the PMS till it runs the way it should. You may even have to go to a bigger Pilot jet like I did.
