Re:OMG MPG WTF 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago
So from what y'all are sayin , I shouldn't be too unhappy with my 2002 Roadie with 53000 miles pullin my 6'4" 385 pound arse with a passenger and stuffed saddlebags when I get 35 MPG averaging 80 to 100 MPH??

Funny I used to use the Marvel Mystery oil in my Virago 1100 with really good results, including improved gas mileage, I wonder why I haven't been using it on my Roadie???

Oh yea that's right, I keep forgetting to put film in my photographic memory!! Been downhill since 50
for me.

Anywho one more off topic for your amusement. I started seein this lady from upstate NY last year.
So far, no fangs, no insanity or alcholism, it's kool. Her only catch was after spending many years
in unions she really wanted to ride american iron. She offered to buy me a new HD, any model I wanted!

Ya shoulda seen the look on her face when I told her I didn't want one!! I then told her that if she
had to have American, we could checkout a Victory. Long story short the only thing Victory made that half asses fit me was the Touring Cruiser. The vision was big enough, but HELL NO!!

The last year they made the TC was 2006. MOM's in Foxboro MA had one there that had 400 miles and was spotless. Nice bike, sits a bit taller then the roadie, I'm built like a weeble, 6'4" 32" inseam!!

We got the bike for $15K, still has 2 years warranty on it. Bought it last week of April, it has 5800 miles on it now. I took my Roadie to work lst week, ya know what?? I still love my Roadie better then anything out there!!

The victory beats any Harley all day, but so do most bikes!! It has higher HP but lower Torque and I
find especially for me I need the TORQUE!! They don't pull good till about 2900 RPM, and even then not like my Roadie.

So we'll probably sell the Victory in the spring, if ya want an american bike, it is the way to go.
If ya want the best big twin, I reckon yer already there if yer in this forum IMHO!!

Peace
I'm leaving work in 2 hours and takin a lil ride to Canton Ohio!!
Sumething to do!!
Keep smilin and ridin

You know if we were worried about fuel mileage, we wouldn't have bought Road Stars. I know when I was looking at this bike I wasn't sitting around thinking, Hmmmm wonder what kind of gas mileage it gets?
When I was looking at those long Cobra pipes and Huge K&N air cleaner, I wasn't thinking,WOW, that's going to really bump those MPG through the roof!!

I'm getting ready to tear the carb apart because I don't think its dumping enough fuel into the motor at hi speed...lol.

But I guess fuel economy is important.

So they make these: http://alitescooters.com/mroadster250.htm

RK......great #'s. I've gotten 49.83956235947113067 on occasion myself. But , tell folks you bought a 1700cc bike for "better fuel economy" , and even non-bike folks say "isn't that a rather large motor"? Try that with a 1900cc bike. The Liner averages about 37-42 daily driving , but has gotten me as good as just shy of 50 on a rode trip. Speed is the key , and elevation is a factor as well.

Glad you're still enjoying the Roadie. BB

Re:OMG MPG WTF 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I just watch the fuel economy as a barometer of the bikes health, not to mention when we're hovering around $4 a gallon, it's a bit more of an issue.

One of the things I figured out is the mileage seemed to be going down with time. Then I realized all that happened is the more comfortable I got on the bike, the harder I was hitting it. As you all have noted, sustained cruising above 75 to 80 really drops mileage. I went out for a ride a couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine that hadn't ridden in a few years so we were on back roads all day with a top speed of maybe 50 and I got 45 MPG.

When I got back into ridin in 1994 I bought a 1987 Virago 1100 with 2000 miles on it, beautiful bike, wayyy too small for my fat azz!!

First time I took a road trip on my Roadie I almost sh!t when I looked down and realized I was goin 75 MPH!! No sensation of speed. The Virago would do 120, but from 50 up you really felt like you were moving, not on the Roadie!!

I think Yamaha should take the name RoadKing from HD!!!
Yea that'll happen

I gotta go take a ride to Canton Ohio
On my Roadie, not my Victory!!
Peace
