Carb main jet 4 Months ago
I have been reading about tweeking the carb main jet. Can this be done to a stock jet or do you need to replace it with an adjustable jet (Aftermarket). I read the tech articles but I'm not seeing what I need to know.
Thanks,
Howie

The main jet is replaced with the size you need and you have to take the float bowl off to do it.

That's the needle .. it's under the black cap of the carb and can be accessed without taking the carb off.

Re:Carb main jet 4 Months ago
The reason I am asking is that since I took that fuel pump off, it seems to be struggling a little bit at speed.
I am going to adjust the float bowl level and while I'm in there I was thinking of what else I should check.

Re:Carb main jet 4 Months ago
You took the fuel pump off but the carb is stock ..... most folks have problems running like that. At higher revs the bike tends to starve for gas. That's why we have the float needle valve mod.

You could try raising the level in the bowl but then it will run richer most of the time. You may 'fix' the starvation issue but now the bike will be improperly jetted.

It's like taking aspirin for a headache but not stopping the cause of it.

Re:Carb main jet 4 Months ago
Well I did put a 2.5mm float assy in the carb, so I should be ok there. I know there are other adjustments, I was just trying to figure out where they are. So this clip and washer needle is on what side of the carb?

You should read in the Tech Articles ... it will help you understand the carb better.

If you look at the carb, it has a big black cap on top. The needle is inside.
