Dyno Jet kit 4 Months ago
|
|
I have an 06 with Krome Werks Slash cuts. I took the bike in (to have first service done since dealer included it with my deal)and it was back poping under hard decel. The dealer called and suggested a jet kit since it was "running lean". I had already bought the kit and hadnt put it on. I thought hey, their in there, let them (who are supposed to know what they are doing, do it) they did so and called this evening and said they still cant get rid of the decel popping, altough it isnt running lean anymore like it was. Any thoughts? Is it not possible to get rid of all the back pops with the AIS still on? Have I made a grave mistake letting them touch it? Help!

Sorry ... not laughing at you.
If you don't have an aftermarket airbox then you don't need to rejet in most circumstances. I suspect you either have an exhaust leak (if it's backfiring) or you need to adjust the PMS or remove the AIS (if it's popping).

There is nothing they are going to do that you can't undo. But you need them to tell you exactly WHAT they did. That was one of the problems I was running into with mine, I had no idea what the first two guys did to it.
Just let them do their thing and when you get it home, get on here and we will get you all fixed up.
Like I said, make sure you know what size jets they put in, where the clip on the needle is and all the details,
From what I understand, if you don't do an air kit, you don't need to do the carb.
Keep us posted!!

Okay, so I made a monumental mistake with the jet kit at the dealer (installation). I have the Krome Werks slash cuts and no other mods. If I do the poormans BAK what would be a recommended start point for jets and clip position. I understand this is a trial and error, just wanting to maybe "get it on the papr" the first time around. Gotts see if I can change this tragedy into a positive if at all possible!

If you do the Poormans probably the most likely Dynojet main to work is the 180. The 180 doesn't come in the kit though. So before you start I would suggest getting one if you are going to stay with Dynojet. Or just tell the dealer you want all your stock parts back. Leave the airbox alone and just put the stock jets and needle back in.

Thats a good point Musky brings up, anytime I have work done at the dealer, which isn't often anymore, I always made sure it was clear at the beginning that I got all the old parts back. Even the washers.
I have a drawer in my tool box with nothing but odds and ends from working on the chicken.
A spare gasket here and there too.
Musky, what is a poormans BAK??

Ummm, if he's staying with the stock headpipes, using only slip-ons, and going with a poorman's BAK, shouldn't the 170 work just fine?
I use a poorman's and a set of Santee's as in my pic, which is a low-cost aftermarket system, and the 170 in the kit was perfect. There are no cold-start and run flaws whatsoever.

Nothing is carved in stone. All I'm giving is my suggestions. If you can run a 170 Dyno main (about 158 mik) then that's good. You didn't need to buy any others.
