I found a new Speedstar aircleaner assy with the V102 faceplate at a local dealer for 140.00 so I'm going to break down and get it. Really only want the V102 cover but what the hell. If I don't rejet at the same time what can I expect performance wise, any harm to the engine? Anyone have a V102 cover they want to trade for the whole Speedstar assy??

you will be running lean so therefore hot...it is possible that it may not really run right at all without jetting

BEWARE, i went the speed star v102 assy w/ rejet & pipes. installed air kit 1st because pipes were always backordered[roadhouse dualies]. bike ran like crap. installed freedom true duals & bike has run GREAT!!!!! moral of the story, if you do it to one end, do it to the other or you wont be happy IMHO

Don't put an air kit on if you don't want to jet and / or you don't have pipes.

It is possible to sell the backplate to someone that only bought the faceplate and has decided that with the stock box and a K&N filter it sticks out too far  I speak from experience  my leg was gonna keep rubbing it so I bought a speedstar backplate that someone had sitting around feels much better ...The speedstar setup is made to fit a 42mm carb ....Coug

Jetting really isnt a big deal. When I did my intake and exhaust I had to jet. If you are not the carb working type have your local shop do it. Shouldn't be that much $$. Jet kits are anywhere from $45-$70. Labor should be less than $100. $170-tops- to make your bike run damn good....worth the cost IMHO

And consider how it will eventually pay itself back. Since going BAK, pipes and rejetting, I consistently get mid-to-high 40's for mpg!

the yami V102 cover with k&n air filter is the same as K&N kit(on my bike), U will have to at least adjust the PMS to get the bike to run
someone has the V102 cover that is like the stocker no change to filter type should not be any issue
when you change to a more open air filter, get the pipes as soon as possible to feel the real advantage of bringing in more air.. it has to get out the other end..
had the same problem when I got mine, air filter showed up no pipes so I put it on, than had to get into the carb and start adjusting.. to get it to run good, and did it all over again when the pipes showed up. I think I can change the jets in my sleep with the carb on the bike now.
