#123464 shacky (User) Junior Boarder Posts: 172 Only getting 37 MPG 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago   I've checked over about 4 tanks of gas and I'm only getting 37 MPG. Bike is stock except for KhromeWorks slip ons. Bike runs great. I do get popping on hard decel but from reading here almost expect that from the slip ons - have checked over and over for leaks and can't find any. I find that around town, stop and go, quick starts, a lot of blipping, I get about the same. on the other hand, running down the road for 200 miles at 65 mph I can get over 50 mpg.. If I go up in elevation say up to 9,000 feet I get around 37 MPG. I've gotten over 50 a few times, on long, uninterrupted distances running no higher than 65. I've gotten as low as 32 running long distances (10 hours) at 75-82 mph. I love the sound the exhaust makes, and tend to be more aggressive with the throttle. Out on the interstate my mileage is great. I have gotten 40mpg a couple of times due to tailwind pushing me and as low as 32 with a head wind. I have tried running the entire tank full and never getting above 55mph and never hammering on the throttle and still only got 38mpg. So I think that your right in the ball park with your numbers. If you look at Yamaha's specs gas mileage figures for the R* your right there. These guys that say they get 200 miles on a tank full are in my opinion extremely lucky and are not of the norm. I've only seen 200 once but typically can run into the high 180's to 190's. I found that I have about another 1/4-1/2 gallon left over so I could get around 215-220 but I have no reason to push that. What do I get? Typically 43 to 46. When I go a distance, and I'm still not going fast, rarely over 50, and still not out of fourth, I get 49. When my bike was stock, I was getting about 35-38MPG. I ride pretty hard too.
