BARON'S JET VERSES DYNJET NEEDLE? 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO. MY BIKE CAME WITH A DYNOJET NEEDLE AND A 165 MUKUNI MAIN JET IN IT. I PUT ON BARON'S BAK, THEY CLAIM TO USE THERE NEEDLE AND A 170 MUKUNI JET. DO I SPEND $60.00 FOR THERE NEEDLE WHEN I HAVE EVERYTHING ELSE? DONT KNOW WHAT MAIN I SHOULD USE WITH THE DYNOJET NEEDLE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED, THANKS

You can use either needle. They are a bit different but it does not matter which one if you have it correctly jetted.

If you have the BAK and aftermarket pipes ... leave the 165 in there and follow these instructions ..... WOT Test

Agreeing with Doc here. There is no performance difference between the two needles. I have alternated the two on a single bike repeatedly and found that if properly jetted they seemed like the same needle. I had to change the clip settings and pms for the one I was using, mains were the same. Do the WOT as doc suggested to make sure you have the right main.

DocShadow,
been keeping an eye on your bike, where did you put your rect./reg.; I've seen only one other bike that moved it but that was on a custom bobber frame. I'm thinking under the seat support structure, or under the right side electronics cover by the oil tank. Also save all your carb. knowhow for January I'm rejetting mine during winter downtime, along with moving rect./reg. thanks -
Ted

My rectifier is in the stock position but it's painted red so it blends in. Some folks have move the rectifier, the most common areas I've seen are on the left side between the swingwarm downtubes and behind the seat.

Real good or new plugs are a must before you start. Make sure you have no air leaks on the intake or exhaust. And make sure your float level is good. For Mikuni jets - Start with the 167.5 main. Have the 170 handy. For Dyno jets the 180 seems to work for most but not all. Set the clip in the 5th groove from the blunt end. PMS at 2 1/2 to 3 turns out. Do the WOT. If the main checks out go to the 4th groove and tweak the needle and PMS from there.

Sea level is leanest. You get richer as you go up in elevation.

The suggested starting points listed above are just that. Starting points. You need to tweak the settings until they are right for your bike.

Or do like Doc suggested and try the 165 first. But you need to follow a procedure. You can't just guess.

Re:BARON'S JET VERSES DYNJET NEEDLE? 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
I PUT IN NEW PLUGS,BUT IS REAL HARD TO START. I CANT CHOKE IT OR IT WILL KILL IT FORSURE. BUT ONCE WARM IT RUNS GREAT ALL THE WAY TO REV LIMITER, AND WILL START INSTANTLY ONCE WARM. I ADJUST THE FUEL/AIR SCREW WHILE WARM RUNNING AND TURN OUT TILL MY REVS GO UP AND IDLES SMOOTH, ABOUT 3-1/2 TO 4 TURNS, WHICH SEEMS LIKE ALOT, BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO HAVE TO MUCH FUEL ON INTIAL START-UP. SHOULD I TRY A 30 OR 32.5 PILOT AND THEN ADJUST PMS?

What pilot jet are you running? Most find that the stock (35) works fine. The 37.5 that comes in the Dynojet kit is Typically too rich for most set ups. It would be hard for me to imagine that you would need anything smaller than the 35 that came in there from the factory. BB
