Symptoms after new pipes/air kit install 3 Months ago
So I had a set of Roadburner pro SLT pipes and BAK installed yesterday by local service shop. They re-jetted as well.

Riding home in the afternoon I noticed a little hesitation at higher RPMs and acceleration. Riding in this morning (cooler ~55 F) I noticed the hesitation much more. It almost feels like when the main tank runs out and I need to switch to the reserve. There's also some occaisional backfiring during engine braking.

Running too lean?

I'll be calling service in about 20 minutes when they open. They better get it in and fixed today. Don't want to go the weekend with it acting like this.

You can be rich at high rpm's and lean at throttle close. Just FYI there are three circuits (four if you count the accelerator pump) that are designed to engage at different throttle settings and rpms.

You should take it out, warm it up, and do a WOT to see if the main is ok. If your lean it will show you.

WOT test is here.

yikes!

Would the service shop know whats up or do they have tests they can do? Or are they likely to blindly adjust and hope they get it right?

a good shop will dyno your bike to jet it, others will ride it and jet it, others will throw some jets and washers in and just call it a day

The best way to get it running right is to go get the barron's jet kit and do it yourself as most here have done. It's not hard and at least then you have all the settings that many of us have success with.

Re:Symptoms after new pipes/air kit install 3 Months ago
OK, so I talked to the shop.

They believe it's just due to the colder temps (like I mentioned around 55 F this morning) and all that cold air being sucked in with the new kit. They said they used the jet settings that were indicated on the Baron's install. They did mention that they didn't use the biggest jet, they used the next size down which is what the install instructions called for.

They are more than willing to adjust the jetting and the head service guy said he would take the bike out and test it next week on one of the warmer days (mid 60's) if I'm still not comfortable with it after this weekend.

problem is that the written down settings on the jet kit arent exactly accurate, they are an overall good starting point but can't possibly work for all locations, some being higher than others and some being colder than others...it is sorta a guessing game

Sounds wierd to me. It shouldn't do that even at 55 degrees.

After I had my BAK and jets installed the bike roared like a dragon. Throttle response was right NOW! But the fuel was being poured into my carb and my MPG went from like 38mpg to 25mpg. It sucked. I told em about it and they said bring it in. They swapped out the pilot jet (according to them) and now I have my great MPG back but the power has diminished greatly. Throttle response has the hesitation back. Damn it!

Damned if ya do and damned if ya don't!

the dealer sounds like they have no clue the temp should have no effect except how long you keep the choke on. I live in buffalo NY and i've ridin in temps in the 30's no problem. my bike ran like crap after the dealer jetted it so i put a barons kit in myself and she runs like a raped ape

Jetted my own explicitly by the instructions... runs absolutely perfect, and great mileage to boot! It was a K&N kit by Dynojet. eBay $27 with shipping. You can find 'em there all the time!
