Where you pulling the vacuum from? I think I may go that route if the pump is bad. What kind of price tag. Sorry didn't mean to HI JACK this thread.

Check out my Tech Article and I'll answer any additional questions you have.

Pumps were around $35.

After installing the 2.5mm valve assembly, reading just about every post concerning the subject, adjusting my float 4 times, installing a pingle tank valve and filter; it ran great until it hit that 1/3 tank level then I guess there isn't enough weight of the fuel to keep it gravity fed. I did this to clean up the left side of the motor, help the rear cylinder run a little cooler, one less thing to worry about or fix and make my bike simplier and more reliable. Now I've got to pussyfoot around and spoonfeed this bike when it gets low on fuel. Should've just left the pump on. Any suggestions anyone?

Did you vent your gascap?

I've never had a bike that required a fuel pump so I don't understand why these need them. These things certainly don't require high flow rates. Other than the valve seat what causes the restriction?

I tend to agree with you,,most of the time, the rollover valve is partially clogged up or broken...I just vented the cap and removed the valve..no problems

Re:LARGER NEEDLE VALVE SEAT? 3 Months ago
Good morning to all those reading this thread, It mushroomed since I last read it.
let me start by saying:
- I'd like to run with no pump of any sort. My friends with customs, and harleys do it why can't I.
- I'm willing to cut off the tube of my tank valve if need be.
- why would I need to vent my gas cap when there is a vent tube running out the top of my tank near the ign. key.
- I still have my original oem fuel pump if need be, but I'd like to keep it off
- I'm willing to get rid of the cooper fuel line and use rubber fuel line instead if that'll solve the problem.
see if we can solve this problem first then we'll move to the jetting issue. Thanks, Ted

Re:LARGER NEEDLE VALVE SEAT? 3 Months ago
I don't know if I can help, but I eliminated my pump, and did not put a larger inlet valve in. I can run at least 3/4 of a tank before it 'runs' out, and want to shorten the pick-up tube to gain all the rest.

If you're 'running out' at 1/3 of a tank, consider how your hose is routed. I tried to route mine in a completely hidden manner over the upper engine mount, but also 'ran dry' at about 1/3 of a tank. I rerouted to just over the intake manifold, and have gotten to a bit beyond the 3/4 of a tank mark before it 'runs out'.

Hope this helps.

I would think that as long as the line stays below the lowest point of the tank there should be no problem. Reserve shouldn't act any different than the normal open position. Its sole purpose is to let you know when the fuel gets down to a certain level.

There has to be a flow restriction somewhere. I've read about a lot of solutions but don't know what is causing the problem. You need to understand the problem before you can come up with the correct solution.

fuel line is a straight shot to the carb. under the intake manifold.
