This may be something everyone but me knows but, has anyone checked their float bowl level while the carb is on the bike? I've got mine bench adjusted pretty much to DocShadow's specs but when checked with the carb mounted on the bike and the bike about as level as I can get it without it falling over on me, the level is about 1/2" over the mating surface of the bowl. I've got a lot of issues with the carb and it's jetting that I'm working through but float level seemed at least to be an obvious one. Apparently not to me. Can someone help clear this up for me, is this common or is something out of wack on my bike? Can't see how it could be really, Manifold is stock, carb is stock, air cleaner is stock. Granted the carb falls a little out of level when the air cleaner is removed but not nearly that much. Any help is appreciated. Trying to get this carb running right before winter.

The bike may be level but that does not mean the carb is level.

There should not be that much different between the bench and on the bike. There is something wrong.

Thanks, I'll tear her down and check how level it actually is when mounted. Have you heard of float level behaving differently under the pressure of the fuel pump? Perhaps the shutoff isn't seating well.

Hi I have mine set below the 1mm mark as the article says http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/59/96/ and I have such small hitches in second gear between 20-25 Km / h we are at about 1200 rpm approx. in all gears, I think that the lowest setting.

The adjustment of the float is not as easy as I thought.
First look at the level that had the carburetor serial and gave me a very high level, so to touch it to correct it, then I realized that an air bubble in the tube had distorted measurement, so that no eye for happens to most people.
According to the manual should be between 2 and 3 mm below the line of union between the tank and carburetor, so it takes a while as the correct level of 1 to 3 mm, having correctamnete if that works.
I saw the torch with the same level it was at the entrance and exit of the carburetor (connected to the bike), I assume that you too will happen the same.
Has anyone found to measure at this level is OEM motorcycle?

I was so confused about the hose and measuring and I found this article by a well known Roadstar mechanic ODO on RS Project made the adjustment very easy. My R* runs great!
