I PUT IN NEW PLUGS,BUT IS REAL HARD TO START. I CANT CHOKE IT OR IT WILL KILL IT FORSURE. BUT ONCE WARM IT RUNS GREAT ALL THE WAY TO REV LIMITER, AND WILL START INSTANTLY ONCE WARM. I ADJUST THE FUEL/AIR SCREW WHILE WARM RUNNING AND TURN OUT TILL MY REVS GO UP AND IDLES SMOOTH, ABOUT 3-1/2 TO 4 TURNS, WHICH SEEMS LIKE ALOT, BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO HAVE TO MUCH FUEL ON INTIAL START-UP. SHOULD I TRY A 30 OR 32.5 PILOT AND THEN ADJUST PMS?

Not sure what your main or needle are but try this first ..... Choke Fix

Under normal circumstances you should have to use the choke to start the bike when it's cold. You are either too rich on the low end (don't think so) or your choke is already engaged.

You now have two opinions ... you need to chose one .... or try them both.

BARONS SUGGESTED TRYING THE 5TH CLIP ON NEEDLE AND ADJUST PMS FROM THERE? WHAT DO YOU THINK? IT SEEMS TO FLOOD OUT IF TRY TO START WITH ANY CHOKE AT ALL. DOES THE NEEDLE EVEN AFFECT THE START-UP, NOT USING ANY THROTTLE, SO NEEDLE DOESNT MOVE. PLEASE ADVISE, THANKS

You need to try what has been suggested. We can't tell you what your bike needs.

I suggest you read the carb articles in the Tech Article tab to help you understand.

In short ... you have 3 major circuits and they affect each other to some degree .. so yes.

Musky detailed what we recommend; our recommendations are different that Baron's.

It's up to you which direction you wish to take.

Just my .02, but, I recommend you follow Doc's suggestion and start by checking you choke cable. If that's part of your problem, you'll do a lot of work and end up back there anyway.

Re:BARON'S JET VERSES DYNJET NEEDLE? 2 Months ago
I DID THE CHOKE TRIMMING TO MAKE SURE THAT WAS NOT IT. I REJETTED TO #5 ON THE NEEDLE AND 175 MAIN JET. THE BIKE RUNS EVEN BETTER IN MID AND TOP END. IT IDLES BEST AT 3 1/2 TURNS OUT ON PILOT JET. IT IS STILL HARD TO START WHEN COLD, ONCE WARM IT STARTS INSTANTLY. HAS ANY ONE CHANGED THE STARTER JET NEXT TO THE MAIN JET? I am wondering if i should go smaller on the starter jet. it is a #65 jet. i might try it. i still can't choke it to start, it just floods it. any other suggestions?? thanks

i just looked in my service manual and the starter jet should be a 57.5.(stock). Guess i will be getting one.

Re:BARON'S JET VERSES DYNJET NEEDLE? 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
WAS GOING TO REJET THE PILOT JET AND FOUND THAT MY STARTER JET WAS A #165 !!!! I PUT IN A 57.5 (STOCK) AND ALL IS FIXED AND STARTES INSTANTLY WITH THE CHOKE ON. PROBLEM SOLVED. SOMEONE BEFORE I BOUGHT THE BIKE HAD PROBABLY WANTED TO REJET THE MAIN TO A #165 AND PUT IT IN THE STARTER JET BY MISTAKE. THEY ARE RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. TO BAD I NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE STARTER SOONER, O-WELL. THANKS TO ALL.
