New to the group here. I have an o6 silverado midnight 1700. Love the bike, even gettting used to the noises, except for the headlight or something up front rattle. Drives me insane. I tried the silicone mod and have had it apart 3 x's already. Tomorrow I 'm taking it to the local dealer. Hey it's under warranty, let them figure it out. I've got cobra 2 into 1 2471 pipes going on soon. Do I need to modify the carb. Everthing else is stock and it has about 1600 miles on it. I live in Tampa so would like to seee if there's any rides comming up soon.

Make sure the rattle isn't actually coming from the tank. It can fool ya. With just the pipes you don't need to re-jet. Most likely you won't have to touch anything.

Thanks,I didn't think about the tank. I'll check it but it doesn't seeem loose or anything. Where would a rattle come from that?

Make sure your key ring isn't rattleing against it. (It's happened) The bolt at the back of the tank needs to be tight. Any of the bolts that hold the dash on. Anything under the dash. Check inside the headlight bucket to see if anything is hitting the sides of it. The headlight adjustment screws can rattle.

Hello fagetaboutit. Congrats on your new ride. I just got a 06 R* 1700 myself last month and can relate to your love for yours. I'm having the time of my life with mine. Hadn't ridden or owned a bike for a dozen years or so and it was the exactly what I needed in my life again at a time when things were very stressful. Riding this motorcycle really relaxes me like nothing else and my wife is starting to love to ride on mine with me more every day so that's an extra bonus I didn't expect.

Anyway, I'm in Clearwater and would like to get together sometime to go riding if you're interested. My neighbor bought one a couple months before I got mine and we ride together several times a week. He got a Suzuki CT50 800cc and it's his first one. He's hooked too. I'll be back in town after New Years if you'd like to go cruising with us sometime. Would enjoy sharing mod info/riding stories with you. So far I've installed Cobra Speedster shorts, Kuryakan Twin Velocity breather kit, carb jetting and just finished adding a Dyna 3000 ignition today. Just received my fairing today and a ported intake is on the way. A little more fine tuning/testing to do after that. I've done all the work myself with the advice from the fine folks here and it's really starting to show in performance gains. I plan on fabbing my own sissy bar bracket and engine guard in a few weeks and after a saddlebag or hard shell kit I'll be pretty much done for awhile. (Yeah, right!) I'm building a library of technical data, manuals, website links etc. and be happy to share it with you and anyone else that wants it.

My neighbor just went on a large cruise last weekend, but I was sick with the flu and didn't make it. They went to Homosassa and back. He said a local pub has schedules of upcoming rides and could get one for me to pass on to you when I get back. Perhaps I could get it tomorrow or Saturday and get it to you sooner or you could call Two BUKS Saloon in Clearwater and ask them.

To find out if it's the headlight 'buzz', next time you hear the sound, reach over and put your hand on the headlight. If the sound disappears then it's the headlight.

If so we can help with a fix.

I tried the silicone fix but that only stopped it for a while. Took it to the dealer and wasted a day. They say its all normal, and were &quot;proud&quot; not to charge me
to test drive it. It is under warranty. I'm taking the tank apart to install a chrome ignition bezel, maybee I'll find something loose there.

You're right about the key chain. When I picked up the bike I had a metal key chain
it rattled so bad at the first light from the dealer I pulled it off.

can't reach it the windshield blocks it. What kind of fix do you have?
