#142990 sailrider (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 63 Going Pumpless. 1 Month, 1 Week ago   Since I have everything apart and the Fuel pump off( and I like what it looks like that way , Im thinking of doing the Small Carb mod to the Needle valve seat suggested in the Tech articles . Have any of you removed your fuel pump and just let gravity cake care of it . Noticed my friends old Shovel head Custom is pumpless and it runs like a scared rabbit . It was very easy to do and the bike runs as good as ever. I also vented the fuel cap at the same time. No problems. Have the stock carb setup (non-ported, stock jets, etc.) though. Runs just fine. Oh, I did cut the main fuel feed of the petcock by 1/2", and everything runs and works just fine. If I were a high-speed highway runner, or did a lot of WOT riding, I'd probably spring for the bigger needle valve, but since I tried running without that addition first, and experienced no fuel shortage... I'm good to go, sans pump. Oh, and today it hit 58 and sunny here, so I was out... saw a few other riders as well.
