AIS Help 1 Month ago
Started removing the AIS, ran into some problems that I am not sure where some hoses go. I tried to follow the directions for removal but don't think the instructions are detailed enough for me. I am posting some pictures that hopefully someone will tell me where the hoses go. I cannot figure out from the instructions. Also I bought the AIS removal pieces, and cannot figure out where they go. They are the oval pieces.

The hose you're holding is going into the top of your manifold, between the jugs. You're going to completely remove that hose, and then use the rubber plug (in the kit) to cap off the hole in the manifold.

Once you remove both of the hoses, (going to the middle of the jugs and terminating in elbow joints), you will be left with the wonderful task of removing those elbow joints from the jugs. They are slip-fit and pull straight out.

Get some threaded rod that will fit a pair of vise grips. Make your own slide hammer, or else rent one from Auto Zone, and use it on the threaded stock.

Here's a pic of one that I made with plumbing fittings, but I ended up using the heavier slide from the Auto Zone slide hammer that I rented:

The two billet aluminum plugs will get tapped into the holes you will have in your jugs, once the elbow fittings are removed.

(Also, in my photo above, you can see my rectifier to the left. That has to go back on the bike and get plugged back in.)

What year is your bike? The 1700's have bolt on connections with the heads. We don't have to go thru the fun of extracting those elbows from the heads..

My bike is an 07 so that sounds good, so do I still need to remove those two hoses or should they be connected somewhere else. Seems to me there is a lot of stuff being taken off, and it worries me that I am taking to much off.

Re:AIS Help 1 Month ago
Hope this helps.

You can also see all the stuff that came off of my 1600, in the photo I posted. You should have had to remove the rectifier, which will go back on later, a black pump and bracket assembly, and a silvery-looking switch directly below it, plus the two hoses and the elbow joints, if you've got those. One of the two hoses should be aluminum, and the other, rubber.

Did you go to the tech articles here and look at the AIS removal instructions?

Look on your manifold, where it splits. There is a hose going to a nipple on the manifold. That one should be pulled off and the nipple pluged. Did the larger hose go to the stock breather? All I remember is that I took off a butt load of hoses. LOL

Here's a link to the AIS tech articles.

Also, check your PM's. I sent you my cell number, if you need more help.

Musky yes I did use the instructions from the Tech articles. I used the instructions that Frank posted in his last post. It is just that those two hoses don't seem to be shown anywhere in the instructions, and I am lost as to where they go or should they come off.
Frank thanks for the offer, I might be calling you.

I used those instructions and it was a breeze. That's why I was wondering. Where do the hoses you are holding lead to on the other end?
