Coug, there's an art to all this: Make your wife really really angry with you and she'll banish you to the garage.

Yep Doc I remember you mentioning that .where was the leak problem...Also do the threads show after tightening it down I spun the mounting plate seems like less than half way easily and then it stopped .The threads look fine I just do not want to force it if I don't need to.This was before adding any Teflon tape as well. I do need to reread the instructions as well because in one line it said to not use Teflon tape then further down it says wrap it at least 2 times like I said I will reread before doing it I am still grinding and doing honey-do's this morning . Any input you guys can toss out would be appreciated .I hope to have this done by Christmas ....my wife has other thoughts I think ...Coug
Had to go uncover the bike to check
I have a couple of threads showing but that's not the source of the leak. Telfon tape does not play nice with gas; don't use it. There are gas resistance liquid thread sealers.
The mounting plate does not side flush against the tank and I've had problems sealing it.

Hum, I guess size does matter??? Anyway, I've noticed with my stock fuelcock, it's been "sticking" when turning on the fuel. It's a bit difficult to turn it on from a fully closed position. Has anyone had an issue with the aftermarkets doing this?

Mine came with a packet of sealer that goes on all 4 mating surfaces that cures for 10 minutes before installing the valve. I am also doing a little light sanding on the painted surface to help the seal.I have some touch up paint that I will use when I finish ...is this new or is it probably the same old thing as I will go get something better if needed and
I bought mine second hand so I did not get what you have. Try it out and tell me if it works. If it does I want the know what it is.
as for the Teflon tape I remember using it on a 4bbl I rebuilt one time and it kinda turned to butter ...Coug
