Thanks guys....it's advice like this that makes this place great!

I'll get the kit and enjoy the fact that I'm going to let my R* breathe for less than half the $$ of a full BAK. It'll look custom and go fast and all that. A titanium needle probably won't ever wear out, and I've actually heard about needles wearing out, at least in dirt bikes. Anyway, I feel much better now

Don't want to sound too noisy, but are we talking about the '07 in the "taking the plunge thread" if so aren't they fuel injected?

This forum is GREAT. I bought a '07 R* instead of the '08 because it was on a clearance price and a great bargain. I don't worry about carb/mix/jet issues because I usually keep my bikes stock. My expereince has been that while there is alot more performance avail in theses bikes from doing mods, the more you change, the more difficult it becomes to diagnose problems when they pop up. But hey, I amazed at what some of you do and how awesome the bikes turn out. Just my .02, I'm old, and use my stock bike as a daily commuter.

Then you are correct .... for the most trouble free experience leave well enough alone.

Yeah, one and the same. But as Musky said, the change to FI started this year, '08.

Speaking of this, has anyone figured out yet if the '08's are faster than a stock '07. It stands to reason that they would be, but you just never know. Curious

Might not be the case, I would say the 08 has a smoother power range because its EFI. It may be that they are running leaner (and that would be my guess) than the carbed and may not be as fast top end. But then again I am only guessing.

Yeah, the recent Cycle World test of the 08 indicated it was pretty
s-l-o-o-o-w. My guess is that there's more available to that bike with remapping. Does anyone know if the cams are different in the '08?
