main jet size 7 Years, 3 Months ago
I'm about to add the BAK to my 2001 star. I also plan to port the intake manifold at the same time. Should I still follow the the suggested main jet size and clip placement on the needle that came with the kit? And what about the pilot jet, will I need to replace that too? I am running with Hard Krome double D's w/baffles (I believe it's the 2 3/4 pipe, came with the bike, so not 100% sure)and AIS removed. At this point I do not plan to add the Dyna 3000, I still have not hit the rev limiter, and knowing the way I ride, probably will never hit it either, even after the BAK install.

And on another note, other then running to a dealer to get baseline diagnostics done, and paying out thru the gazoo, and having to recheck after each tweak, what is the best way to tell I got it right for jet sizes, needle clip placement, so forth and so on, and all the other fine tweaking. I love to ride, and don't want to spend day's wrenching on my bike. Thankx

Most have a 170 main jet and the 4th clip on the needle with a stock #35 pilot jet. Maybe able to keep the 167 main. This set-up is with BAK and pipes.

The 170 main is a good start and then adjust the PMS. I also used a #40 pilot but went back to the #35 when I put in more restrictive baffles.

The Tech pages have suggestions on how to determine if you're running OK.
