I purchased my Pingel high flow petcock and fliter from J&P Cycle for my '01 Midnight Star when I switched to the polished Mikuni HSR 42mm flatslide carb requiring the removal of the fuel pump and conversion to gravity feed fuel feed.

The techs at J&P Cycle advised me of the correct petcock to order and the required adaptor to work on the Roadstar. The tank required some very carefull drilling/filing to make the change.

I added a polished float bowl spacer from West Coast CNC Machining to increase the fuel capacity in the float bowl of the HSR 42mm carb, removed two small vent plugs in the stock gas cap, made sure the gas tank vent hose was open and used the largest ID fuel hose that fit the carb/petcock/fuel filter all to facilitate maximun gas flow under the most extreme demands on the gravity feed fuel system.

Good luck and ride safe

You do need an adaptor. However, I do not know the part number for the correct adaptor for the Roadstar.

I purchased it over a year ago and may have purchased the petcock, adaptor and filter from Hellriser Customs at a better price than J&P Cycles...I just do not remember.

You can go to www.hellrisercustoms.com and call them and they may be able to help you as they specialise in aftermarket parts for Yamaha Roadstars.

If you are installing the MIkuni HSR42mm flatslide carb you will need to remove your Roadstar fuel pump. It puts out too much pressure for the HSR42mm. As an alternative to fuel pump removal, you can install a fuel pressure regulator but I do not know which one or where to get them as I wanted to get rid of the fuel pump and clean up the left side of the engine. Check Barons Custom Accessories Roadstar on line catalog under intakes and look up th HSR42mm carb and go to the install instructions for info on fuel pressure regulator and TSP removal.

When you install the HSR 42mm carb you also eliminate the carb heater from the stock carb and need to unplug the TSP (throttle position sensor) and set it to closed throttle position and tape it or otherwise fix it in the closed position and hide it up under the seat or tank out of the way.

Also go to Barons tech forum as advised in first reply for very good info on install and tuning youyr new crab.

Did you get the correct throttle cables for the Roadstar install of the HSR 42mm carb...you can't use your stock cables.

good luck and ride safe
