Ported manifold - jetting 3 Years, 9 Months ago
Gram,
I bought your ported manifold last year but am just getting around to the install. I thought you had some basic instructions with it but they are no longer to be found. I read the FAQ on the Clinic and have the instructions with the Dynojet Kit.

I have Forcewinder air box, Bub Big Willy's with 1 1/2" baffles, Dynojet kit DJ-4175 on a 2000 Midnight Star. Any recommendation on installation and starting settings?

Riding weather almost here and I need to get the bike back together.

Thanks for your help
Dave

Sorry Dave, I have been so busy our last discussion slipped.

The DJ instructions and jets will leave you a lot richer than I like to run. Although I know quite a few folks that are very happy with there jetting as per Dyna recommendations.

The Dyna needle is fine. If you stick with the Dyna jets, I would recommend the closest thing you can get to a 180 main. I don't think they have anything smaller than a 190 in the kit though. If you end up using the 190 Main, you should go fairly high on the needle, perhaps 4th clip to start and maybe transition to the 3rd, but only if you are very rich and your mileage is poor.

If you can find a local jet dealer that carries Mikuni jets, I would look into a 170 main. The 4th clip should be fine with this main. You may need to go to fifth if you get a lot of backfire on decel and the pilot circuit is near its max.

Be sure to dial in the PMS per the article here on the clinic.

I sent my pn# to you via Personal Message here on the clinic if you want to discuss it.
