I'm sorry you're going through this, but Questcap and Doc are sending you in the right direction. Musky's correct that you could have stayed stock, but now that you're this far I think you might want to follow through with getting it running properly and then if you decide to throw a better filter on it you're all set to make some small changes and she'll be running great. If you haven't pulled the tank from your roadie you'll have to do that for the first time, but it's not hard, just go slow and methodical and don't scratch anything. Once off, you'll see that the roadie is pretty easy to work on. I really enjoy working on this bike, actually, and I've worked on A LOT of bikes!

I'm sooooo happy to be free of the dealer. My bike has never seen the dealer, and I plan on this never happening! The fact that they didn't give you all the jets in the jet kit is like crime. They should either give you the jets or buy you a new kit, IMO.

But really, it's just one carb and you have all of us here to help, and once you've done it you're free! (from dealer)

One suggestion: get an adjustable PMS like Baron's. It's so worth it for fine tuning your ride. After doing my filter and re jet, my mpg was in the mid 30's; now, with careful tweaking, I'm back above 40 mpg in mixed, and pretty spirited, riding.

Good luck with however you go, but for sure you can get that mpg back and have her running sweet.
