Jetting help 4 Years, 1 Month ago
I'm getting a loud backfire out the exhaust on hard decel. I just did the stage 3 exhaust and added a Speedstar (K+N) filter. I rejetted the carb with DJ jets 175 main, 4th grove, and PMS out 3 turns. I did the WOT test and it is not running lean. Is this a PMS issue or Main/needle issue.
Thank You

What's the elevation ASL of where you live? That has a lot to do with it...

Are you positive you have no intake or exhaust leaks? Did you do the WOT with the clip in the 5th groove? Did you set the PMS using the in / out method?

I checked for intake leaks and I did not find any, I did the WOT with it on the 4th groove. I did do the PMS using the in and out method. It started doing it when I did the jets and the airfilter. My elavation is 126 ft above sealevel

Reads the WOT article (WOT)and then redo the test. At that close to sea level I'm guessing you are too lean.

And DJ doesn't give you the one jet that you probably need. Their kit goes from 175 to 190(or is it 195?) and in a DJ you probably need a 180.
I've been running with a 175 and knew it was too lean. Finally got my hands on a 170 Mikuni and it's like a new bike now.

The kit does jump up to 190. I'll try to find a 180

Might as well port and lap your manifold while you are tinkering.
