I ordered the Barons adjustable PMS and will be installing it later this week. Does anyone know if you start with it 3 1/2 turns out as with a stock PMS?

I did but I'm still running the stock carb settings. Down to 2 1/2 now due to the warmer weather and such. Good investment though. Put a short length of fuel line hose on it for easier access too. Anyone else?

If you're running 3 1/2 now then it will be to much.

It does not matter, however, as you should do the adjustment process to find the sweet spot for your setup before you take it out.

Re:Baron's PMS 4 Years ago
Ok.. Doing the PMS replacement in a couple of hours. I have never taken my carb off before so I have two questions. One, The throttle linkage connection seems rather straight forward, any tricks to reconnecting? Second, Is there a gasket to the intake that I need to replace (I don't have one if I do)and is it easy to take off.

Ok, maybe I have three questions.

I am running the Kury twin velocity air kit and Cobra slip-ons to stock head pipes. Thoughts on where to start with my PMS setting? I do get some carb puking now when cold and some slight backfiring on hard decel. since I put on teh Slip-ons. It seems to be running hotter than I would like. To rich I am assuming.

Any help would be repaid in beer.

Just have to come to Orlando to collect it.

There is no gasket between the carb and the carb joint (mainfold). Install the throttle linkage in reverse of removal...not too bad at all.

It looks like you have a good idea of what is going on and know what you need to do.

I would start with what you have on the stock PMS and go from there.

WHILE you have the carb off, open it up and note (write down - pictures are too shiny or out of focus - don't ask me how I know) what jets you have inside and what setting on the needle. Here's a couple of links from the Tech Articles:

I got mine set at 2 turns out. Barons BAK, V&H Powershots. 167 main, stock pilot

Simple change out mine took about an hour (just cause I had to clean everything around the engine while it was exposed )

OK

When you take the carb off don't take the TPS, just disconnect it on the left side of the bike.

Put tape on the front throttle cable so you know were to connect them back up. Loosen the bottom nut and leave the top where it is.

Runs hot is lean not rich ... but you may not be used to the heat ... it may be normal.

While you have it off it's a good time to check out what jets you have for future reference.
