There are quite a few manifold that the surface to the heads are not even (a possible cause of leaks)take some 300 grit sandpaper on a flat surface (glass, countertop) sand in a figure 8 pattern, don't forget to take the o-rings out. In most after market air kits, stock pilot works fine. Usually, if you have to go bigger pilot jet, and having to turn the pilot screw out (richer)that much, an air leak could be the issue. I prefer carb cleaner over the wd40 to check

dvblair: Has anyone cut off the heel portion of the shifter? I never use it and would like to have the extra room. I would like to remove it but it looks like you would need a spacer on the shaft and I'm not sure ...
