Carb Jetted - Lost MPG 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I had my carb rejetted. I went from getting 45-50 mpg to just over 25. The bike seems to run well but labors a bit on long hills. Where's the problem? Thanks.

Route66. You'll need to give the carb gurus a bit more info, like what mods have been done, what size jets were installed, how many turns the PMS screw is set to, why was your scoot rejetted, etc.

Yeh, really, start with what intake mods and exhaust are you running? Then what jetting setup was installed?

By the time you get all the responses to your question... you'll be tearing into it and fixing it yourself!

Here's what it says on the work order.
Replaced needle with dynojet needle. Set to #4 Clip from top set F/S tp 3 1/4 replaced main with 190 from kit. Plugged AIS.

I had it jetted because I was putting V&H Long Shots on the bike. That was the only mod.

Thanks for your help!

If you only did pipes, then no reason to re-jet, in most case just a pilot screw adjustment. And the AIS removal. What yr bike?

I'm with Erbman02

You are probably way too rich now with the jetting.

If you add a BAK to the carb you will be doing better, but the main sounds too big to me IMHO.

As they said above, there was no need to change jets if you have the stock airbox. The DJ195 jet would probably be rich for the most modified bike we have here.
If you aren't planning on changing the airbox then you should have them put the old parts back. (At no charge since they should have known not to change jets in the first place)
If you ever go with a less restrictive airbox then you'll need to do the WOT procedure in the Tech Articles to get it right as everyones bike is a little different.

That's the problem, these wrenches don't know, they just follow instruction from the pipe manufacturers. Have you ever seen a pipe that does not say to re-jet?

That's true. But you would think that a little experience would teach them to... nahhhh!
