Moe....You may have alread seen this, but this article explains what jets are being used during various points of throttle (including idle).

Erbman will set you straight. He's an excellent carb resource.

My pilot was too big causing way rich at idle kinda like yours sounds. It ran like a beast, just low mpg's. My buddies pointed it out to me while stopped at stoplights. The gas fumes were killin' them!
