A good place as any to start at your elevation.
Don't forget you final settings should reflect the time of year (actually the temp) when you will be doing most of your riding. In your case if you tune at 40 and ride most of the year at 75 then you'll be a bit richer for most of your riding.

I guess I'll leave it for now and tweak it a bit when the weather gets where it's SUPPOSED to be this time of year...sheesh...two days ago it was 74, today it flurries all day and gets to 45 with 35 MPH winds...pfft!
The spring weather is crappy all over except the west coast.
I just wanted to point out that as long as the bike runs acceptably, don't knock yourself out trying to get it perfect. If your 'normal' riding weather is much warmer (or cooler ) and you are not close to the final settings, you will have to go into the carb again.
It's better to be off for those few cold days than be off all summer when it's hot and you do most of your riding.

Only if you want to ride when it's that hot!
Probably not. If you have it set up for your 'normal' riding conditions, then most likely you only have to adjust the PMS in or out.

I just wanted to get it going good for my elevation...not too rich, not too lean. It's going to need to be versatile in a month or so, since a few work buddies and I are taking a weekend trip up through Taos and then into Southern Colorado (Alamosa). We'll be going through Wolf Creek Pass, and that's at 10,850 feet and has snow on the ground (hopefully not the roads ) through June. I'm already at 5,600 feet, but that additional 5,000 (almost a mile!) feet has me wondering how the bike will do.
Thanks for all the input Doc, Coug, Musky & everyone! Actually gonna go for a real ride this afternoon...DAMN the cold weather...putting the highway bar chaps on and going for it!

Let me know how you like the chaps. I've been debating with myself on getting some.

-DJ 175 main
-DJ needle at 3.5 (from the blunt end down- washer, circlip on 3, white spacer, 2 silver washers)
-stock pilot
-PMS at 2.75
When you go up in elevation you need to lean it out. If you were always driving at 10850 then you would need a DJ170 main. You would also need to lean out the needle, third clip may work OK, but you're almost at the limit of the DJ needle anyways and changing from your current setting may not produce any results.
If you're having big problems up there, try to find the lowest octane gas you can get (probably not an option). Screw the PMS in a bit to lean it out. As a last resort, as it's easy to get to the needle, change the clip to 3. I would not mess with the main for the short time you'll be there.

Hey Curt, grew up down in Bryan,TX.What`s that humidity like there?
Still in the 70`s there during the summer? It`s hot out here but the
humidity is usually in the low teens. If I remember correctly ,high
humidity richer and low humidity leaner.I think.
