Cobra Jet Kit 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Hey there everyone, just wondering if someone can clear something up for me. My Cobra Speedster Slashdown pipes just arrived. Inside the box is a Cobra Jet Kit. I thought that I didnt have to rejet with just the pipes. I am going to put the pipes on this weekend and remove the AIS. I do have a Barons BAK on order and will get the local Yamaha dealer to install that when it arrives and rejet at that time. Is it ok to not do anything with the Cobra Jet kit, basically can I just put the pipes on and go? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Rusty

No need to jet with just the pipes. I would use the needle and jets that come with you BAK when you get it and sell the kit that came with the pipes. Don't know what comes with the pipes but I know how good the Barons kit works. And besides they are easy to work with which will come in handy when you re do your jetting cuz the dealer has it set too rich.

Hey Rusty...Welcome to the forum. I have the same pipes on my 1600 with no jetting. Runs great. Also removed the AIS. You'll love the way it cleans up the front end. I actually bought my pipes used on ebay and did not get a jet kit. According to the Cobra website, a jet kit is available, but does not state that it comes with it. Maybe you got a freebie? Or maybe they charged you for one and you didn't know! Either way...its not necessary for just the pipes.
