my ride is as follows...
04 R*,10000mi, maxair filter(not using their jet kit),hard krome 3' long straights w/ baffles, speedstar jet kit..
i opened up the jet kit and used the needle but it came with an (in my opinion)unusable set of jets..(a #50 and #60
pilot and a #165 and #170
main)
i have had to go to the dealer and buy jets as follows(#40 and #45 pilot and #190 and #195 main)
the instructions from maxair say to use the #40 and the #195 with the needle on the 5th clip and use 2 washers under it..of course this is just a baseline

WOT and she wont accept anythin but the #195 and 2 washers under the needle or she pops loudly so thats what i have in...
and on the pilot i have tried the #45 but the
pms wouldnt cause a stumble so i went to the #40 and have the stumble only if i close the pms off completly...
i have tried the #35 that came with the
carb but no good ...i have her set at 2and 1/4 turns
now my question.. i read in the factory manual that the carb should have a#35 and a#170 (it came from
yami with the #35 and a #182.5)??????
also noone on here seems to be going higher than the #170 and i have to have a #195 ...am i all wrong and too rich on the main??? my pipes are all black and plugs are white as snow on the front cyl. and black on the rear..she stumbles at very low throttle as per my other post(Re:loping at slow cruise by warthog)any info would ve greatly appreciated... and sorry for the long posts, i just want to be thouough and consise.. thank you, warthog
