Re:Cracks in intake 2 Years, 3 Months ago
There is no gas left in the bowl b/c I had the carb off to install the jet kit. I guess it should be ok. It was running fine before. I'll just keep an eye on it. Man, it has been a while since I have been inside a RS carb. This one apparantly had never been apart and those 4 bowl screws all fought me. I ended up having to dremel a notch across them and use a big flat screw driver. Needless to say off to Lowes I went to get 4 allen head screws. Next time it will be cake! I guess the last one I had done must of been a 99 or 2000 so that starter jet with no hole in it threw me for a loop. I was actually trying to blow it out till I realized it was solid in there. Thanks again for the help guys and I resized my picture so let me know what it looks like on your end now.

Pic looks great now! If you wanted to check for leaks, after you reinstall your bowl, just turn your key on. You'll year the fuel pump "clicking". After it finished clicking, the bowl should be full again (if you're still running a pump, that is!).

A number of us are running pumpless. I've been that way for two years (mine died and left me stranded late at night ) now and wouldn't go back. I vented the gas cap and installed the larger needle jet, trimmed 1/2" off the intake tube in the tank, and I'm pleased as punch--nary a problem. And it cleans up that side of the bike nicely, too!

Mr_Shamrock, I'm afraid your pic is still too large. The "properties" shows 71.49 KB (73204 bytes). If you want to email a copy to me I can see what I can do to size it down even more for you.

I think the problem is your camera was probably set on the highest resolution, which created a huge file. I set my camera to either "low" or "medium" for pics for the Internet.

Ok I think I might be on to something here. I looked up the part number on Bike Bandit and it will reference what machines it fits. Apparantly that needle assembly is from a Katana 750 or a 1200 bandit. Bike badit wants $49.81 just for the needle and seat. So I went on eBay and searched Katana 750 Carb kit and found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110443807587&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT for $23.00. Does this make sense that that is the right one I would need - and for $23.00 I am in!!!

I don't understand what the deal is with my pictures. My camera is set to 1.1 which is the lowest it will go and I still went and resized smaller. My picture is smaller (as far as the visual size) than most everybody on here. Strange!

Ok that is the smallest and worst quality that I can downsize to. Is that ok?
