I'm not on a FI Roadstar , Mine was carbureted. So , I'm not too sure what a pair valve is. Care to lay some details on us. Several of our guys are on FI roadies now , and chime in on regular basis. Many of those guys have done mods as well. BB

Well to make a long story short. I changed out my pipes to a set of " BUB Big Willy's" on my 08 Roadstar which is FI. I got the pipes boared out to install the O2 sensors (which are now hooked up) Stock mapping, and when you take off and go through the gears it runs fine, until you flatten out around 50 or so, it really runs rough, kinda like it's being choked. the guys in the shop said it seems like it's running on one cylindar or something. The emmision control valve (pair valve) was supposed to be blocked off. I don't know exactly where it is located.

The AIS? Not sure how that would affect performance , but many remove it (including myself) completely from the bike. If it is like the carbed models , it's the garbage hanging just under the regulator in between the front down tubes. BB

Well thanks for the info. I had one tech say that the valves might be sticking, so I'm gonna run some Yamaha brand "Ring Free" in the gas tank & see if that helps any before I start ripping garbage out. DW ps hollar @ me when you get close to Columbus

Thanks guys for all the info.
Well I finally found out the problem.
Seems like you have to do more than just block off the pair valve, you also need to unplug the wire that goes to the AIS module, located in the front of the bike. Once I did that, ran it & shut it off, then started it back up again it ran fine & been running fine ever since.
Once again, Thanks to all ya'll for the info. It sure helped out.

Don't know what a pair valve is. Looked in the factory manual a couldn't find it. He may be refering to what the factory calls the air cutoff valve assembly which is part of the AIS. I didn't have to unplug mine, I just cut the two hoses in half plugged them with rubber plugs and glued them back together to preserve the stock appearance for warranty/inspection purposes. Never put a Power Commander on as it isn't necessary of these jewels. The AIS shouldn't affect engine performance as it injects air into the exhaust when the engine is idling or running cool. Of course we all know it ani't perfect and the air it injects into the exhaust causes alot of decel popping, expecially noticible with after market pipes.
