#238947 bofish (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 350 Speedstar ignition module 2 Years, 6 Months ago   I was talking to a mechanic friend about a little performance upgrade for this winter. Suggestion was to put a new ignition module on from star performance. Currently run stock carb on 07 with V&H long shots, stock air box with K&N filter. From what I understand this will raise RPM from 4750 to 5500. Besides raising RPM level are there any other benefits? And what is the benefit of increased RPM. Bike runs well the way it is but I would like a little more performance. Is there? I dunno. But I CAN say that the sound coming out of the HK pipes @ 5500 RPM is SCARY. In a good way. I really should put on the beefier valve springs to go with the higher RPMs, but I only hit the rev limit to blow out carbon...no way I'm keeping it at that sustained RPM. Just like the lifters, I think you can use Jeep springs, too, which are stiffer. Don't know the part #, though... For the same or less amount of money, Dynatek 3000 ignition also offers selectable timing advance curves and selectable rpm limits. This way, as you make modificationss to your machine, from simple bolt ons to internal engine mods, you will be able to extract the best power output available.   Logged     The administrator has disabled public write access. #239037 Erbman02 (User) Platinum Boarder Posts: 3800 Re:Speedstar ignition module 2 Years, 6 Months ago   There's no usable power after 4900, 4800 rpm unless you go to a stage 3 or stage 4. Boosting the rev limit doesn't do anything. And it does not produce a hotter spark, all it does is change the timing of when the spark happens. Dyna3k can be found for about 220.00, then you will have multiple timing changes to try.
