Do I need to hook the carb heater back up? I'm getting ready to put the carb back on and I feel like doing away with that chunk of wire. Everything in my mind says dump it.

I wondered the same thing when I was putting mine back on. As warm as a V-Twin runs it seems like it wouldn't be needed. Hopefully someone has tried it and will chime in. Why did you have it off...finally installing that supercharger you been trying to keep secret??? OOPS!

This was discussed a month or so ago and it seems that people are doing fine without them...

it would depend a lot on when you ride and in what temps.

i personally find i get a touch of carb icing when the temps drop to 5ºc ( i´m at 900mts +/-) after -5ºc or -8ºc due to there being less moisture in the air it ceases to be a problem, but he average in winter here is around 5ºc so i leave the heater on.

it can be more pronounced with higher flow air kits due to the increased air velocity in the carb venturi.

Ya, I never drive it when it gets below 10 - 15C, so I should be fine. Just less stuff in the way.

warmer fuel vaporizes faster, but as the old addage goes, if you cant notice a performance difference then it is unnecessary weight.
