Hey carb gods! 5 Years ago
Ok...just bought the barons jet kit from big bear. I have a 1600 with Cobra slashdowns. I'm removing the stock box and slapp'in on a k&n filter. What is a good starting point for the carb setup?

Then leave the carb the way it is, put the filter in and try it out.

You're probably going to be close on the jetting for the 1600.

I'm confused...In your email you sent the other day, you said I was basically creating my own BAK. How can that much change in air flow not require jetting?

We aim to confuse.

Thanks for the memory jog. When you said no box I assumed you were putting the K&N into the stock box.

OK .... for the open filter, put on a 170, clip on 5, PMS on 2.5. Warm it up and take it out for a WOT test. Make sure you have a 167.5 on hand.

Once you have the main nailed, move the clip to 4 and adjust the PMS by doing the in and out routine to find the sweet spot.

Try it out warm and cold to see how it runs.

That should keep you busy for a could of weeks.
