I could hear the throtle rev up when i give it gas but it seems that it taking the bike time to catch up and this is at every gear and it feels like I can't go any faster than 50 mph can some one give me any suggestion on what it can be. thanks for your help

First place to look is at clutch adjustment....if it's right, there should be about a nickel's thickness of play at the clutch lever (learned that here on the clinic!)...after that we'll look for clutch slippage. Our Stars tend to have a little bit of a weak diaphragm spring, which can be remedied in a couple ways...and I'm sure SOMEONE will chime in on THAT part shortly!

How's that, mods???

Sure sounds like a slipping clutch. Whether it's an adjustment, wrong oil or ?

Sounds like you have a slipping clutch. Barnett has a replacement spring set that replaces a diaphram spring with a plate and six coil springs. They also have heavy duty springs.. I can get them for you; the kit is $110.00 list is $137.50, the heavy duty springs are $14.25 list is $21.51.
I hope you have not used an oil with anti-friction additives as they will destroy the clutch plates; a lot of slipping will destroy them also. Barnett plate kit is $107.00 list is $161.92

As stated, clutch adjustment 1st place to look.If it is the springs, It's easy to fix. Clifford just gave you the best price you will find.

Re:speed up 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I concure with the slipping clutch. I purchased my un-molested (Reserved for me only to molest) 99 R* Silverado last May with 11,000 miles on it and clutch slipage wasn't an issue even when 2-up. Over the winter I did a lot of maintanence and some upgrades, one of which was the Dyna 3000 set at 32 advance and 5,000 rev-limiter. I then did the "Poormans BAK on the stock airbox (bored 8 1.25" holes in the perimiter with K&N filter and re-jetted the carb with a Barons kit, 170 main, 4th clip on needle, and 3.5 turns out on the PMS (MixMax Screw) and it was a winner right out of the gate. I have been tweaking the PMS and have settled on 3 turns out for now. I have to add I have done the stage 1&2 stock exhaust mod as well as slotting the backplate so I call it the stage 2.5. All this to say that now when I ride and "Get it on hard", from 3rd gear up I now have a slipping clutch. I guess I crossed the line with the stock clutch. It still accellerates even with slip but slower, just a delayed hook-up. I dont ride hard usually so It isn't really a problem yet. I do think a clutch mod is in a future mod for me, Maybe next winters mods.
