Exhaust leaks can be detected with a lit cigarette or incense.

ok, Im really bad at this.. what does the cigarette do, I also a bit nervous taking the AIS off of the bike. It should be there for a reason correct? Also it is already plugged which should be doing the same thing. I cant see how removing it is gonna benefit me.

The smoke around the leaky area will be pushed around some, it should be quite obvious. And no, a single plug is not all it takes to seal the AIS. There are connections at each head that need to be sealed, as well as vacuum port. All the ais is to dump a predetermined amount of air into the pipes, but its for stock pipes. As a few said, just pipes, the existing computer has enough room to make adjustments for pipes only mod.

thanks that is very helpful.. should i use the 04 ais removal tech tip to do this? also if there is a leak how do i solve it? If i remember correctly them slip on were tight as heck to get on

ok took the cigarette out there and I think there is a leak.. the smoke seems to push thward the back of the bike when placed right above where the slip ons connect to the pipes.. they are tight.. aany suggestions hows to eliminate this?

HIgh temp RTV silicone.

Let it dry overnight before starting the bike.

thanks doc... where would i get that? also i assume i would pull the slip ons off then apply the silicone to the pipes then put the slip ons back on.. correct?
