G'day all. I've just received my AIS removal kit and before starting I thought I'd check with you guys on any pitfalls that I need to be aware of. For example: Can I do any damage while removing the fittings??

The fittings are bolted to the cylinder heads so you are not at risk of damage there. Use Loctite blue on the bolts when you intall the covers. Otherwise, you're just unbolting the air pump and blocking off the vacuum line to your carb. You will have to unbolt the rectifier to remove the air pump and the cover between the cylinders on the left side to get at the bolts for the pipe the goes to the back cylinder. Just take your time. It's Easy!

Thanks billd...I appreciate your feedback.

I thought the elbows were pressed into the cylinder heads and had to be driven out. This part concerns me as I'd hate to do damage to the heads.

Also does removal of AIS create any performance issues or require adjustments to jetting, etc.?

Emu,
As far as I know removing the AIS does not affect the performance either positively or negatively. It does, however, stop the popping and backfiring on deceleration with aftermarket pipes.
Since I have EFI on my '08, I'm not sure if adjustments in jetting are required but I don't think so. Check some of the other "AIS Removal" threads for more info. on this.

Thanks again billd... I'll follow your advice and check back on threads. I do get occasional popping in Cobra (2-1) pipes so if it reduces that it will be a bonus. I'm mainly looking at removing clutter from the engine and will be relocating the fuel pump as well.

I'll be working on the R* this weekend and hope to have all done and dusted by Sunday.

I appreciate your help mate.
