How many miles do you have with the 190 and Max Air? My plugs looked exactly like that with the stock set up right before I put the Max Air set up on. The rear is always going to run a tad richer because it runs hotter. They cleared right up after some miles with the Max Air. Remember, if that rear has a touch of SVS, it is going to foul the plugs from unburt fuel building up. The Max Air should clear that up. Also, remember with the Max setup, you are running a 37.5 pilot and do not need to turn the PMS out far. I have mine out two turns when it's warm, 2 1/4 when it's cold. The Max Air setup, for me anyways, cleared up the beginnings of SVS and runs great now with a Highway mpg of 46-50. They will eventually even out most likely with the rear always looking a little "tanner" than the front. Also, if you do try the "ride, shut off, and coast to a stop" method to check your plugs you will want to let 'er cool down before pulling those plugs from that alloy head. The Max setup will work, you just have to have faith.

Have you put some more miles on since your last post? How is it working out for you so far? One bad thing, a new maxair filter, or a newly oiled maxair filter will cause you to run a bit on the rich side until the exess oil is sucked out of it. That may have componded and already aggrivated svs condition and could take some time to clear up. I am almost willing to bet that after 1000 miles you will be very happy.

Not as bad, but I made gaskets to TRY to get rid of the leaks. I still think it leaks some. Might see about the thicker o-rings. Just pops and back fires a little and then clears right up. Still is weird how it seems to run on one cylinder for a little while. I thought Roadkills' post was going to answer it but it ain't that simple.

dave did you mean to say the 35 pilot (factory) or actually 45, that sounds big and I think most here, me included found that the pilot was our biggest fuel mileage eater, having that big.. the main is kind of flexible like erb was saying.. just find the smallest one when the bike runs good you are pretty well off..
I know that I had the dj180 and it ran great, but the dyno guy thought I should be up three jets bigger.. but he is a HD guy and they like them rich.. I felt as long as it ran good the maybe 2 hp on the dyno wasn't going to make it save any gas or run any better.

Yes I'm running a 45 and get pretty good mpg. On one test run I got 50mpg. But most of my riding around town and with a twichy right wrist I get in the lower 40's. All my dyno runs come out good on Afr. I was around 13.8 in the cruise range. Bike runs great, plugs look great no problems. As Gram and I discussed there is a diff between the dia of the speedstar needle that I'm running, and the Barons or Dyno that most others run. That changes the size of the main and obviously the pilot that can be used. He said that with the other needles that a 175 main is about as big as he could get to work properly. I am also using the stock pilot screw and not an aftermarket. With an BAK and pipes the only thing that was changed on mine was the pilot and needle and I'm still running the stock main.
