read where you got your bike, the way it should have been from factory, could you maybe tell me if you re-jetted or just replaced the needle? any help would be most thankful.

Kenny,
I did rejet. First let me say that the only modifications I have on my bike are:
AIS Removal Kit (Baron's)
Stage III exhaust mod (See Tech Tips)

I rejetted using a Baron's Jet Kit and their Torque Ring. Settings as follows:
165.5 Main
Needle on 4th clip - standard spacer and washer
PMS on 2.5 turns out.

If you contact Bulldog at Baron's website - he will tell you exactly how to set it up based on your bike, any mods you have and your location.

The DynaJet kit I purchased didn't allow me to dial it in... I don't know why. Once I installed the Baron's Kit and Torque Ring it began to run perfect. One thing to check for is an intake manifold leak. I have been told this is common out of the factory and it will make it impossible to clean up the throttle response.

Sure hope this helps - I loved my bike and found that one thing to be so distressing... well, let's just say I am so glad I met Bulldog. Next month I plan to install the Speedstar 2 into 1 pipes and a Baron's BAK and I will consult Bulldog once again for tips.

tamaule,
thanks for your reply. My bike is still all stock and i did change the o-rings all ready. I am going to try the set-up you have and see if it makes any changes. Does the stage 3 sound pretty good? and what improvment did the work you do change your bike. Once again thanks for the help.

The stage III is very nice not too loud while still providing that "more than stock" sound. When you get to the part about drilling blind go slow. Drill one hole in each pipe's baffle plate and check the sound (go for a ride). It takes longer to do but you can get exactly the sound you want without going over. I drilled 3, 3/4 inch holes in mine - I would have liked to have heard 2 holes first. BTW, I did not remove the pipes from the bike while doing this, my guess is that it is easier this way.

I noticed some improvement in mid-range but mostly just sounds better. The big improvememnt came in combination. Removing the AIS, Torque Ring, Jet Kit and pipe mod. I love my bike again. I rarely use 5th gear. I find that cursing at speeds between 60 and 70 are perfect for 4th.

If (when) your bike set properly you should be getting 40 plus MPG and the bike should run smoothly. Remember two things: This is still an air cooled v twin and will probably always make engine noise and the problem I had was NOT a valve spring problem - it was poor jetting.
