as far as initial set=up for
pilot screw, start it at 2 turns out, maybe set the idle a bit higher, then go ride and let engine fully warm, re-set idle. then if needed readjust the pilot screw. Remember, in is richer for this
carb. the pilot screw adjust the air flow, pilot jet is a constant fuel flow. And forget everything you learned about jetting the stock carb, it just doesn't apply to the 42. also I hoped you remembered to swap the 2 wires on the
tps since you mounted on left. also recheck resistance after you tighten down the tps unit, a hair movement, can change it easily 100 ohms. I finally set mine for 720, though the calculations called for around 680. and get a #50 pump nozzle, the standard 70 is much too big. and don't be surprised to see as much as a 10mpg difference between city and hwy, My last 2 200 mile rides got 50mpg and 48.2 while my in town is usually 40 to 42.
I've come to find that too many are adjusting the pilot screw way too soon of the ball game rather than adjusting the idle, to control idle
rpm's. And on the same note, if going to change the pilot jet, again, start the pilot screw at 2 turns out. I highly suggest the Yost power tube as well: MHSR-M - Kit uses Mikuni Jets that are not included. And don't over tighten, it will not tighten down to collar, built this way by design.
