As you can imagine, you would have issues since fuel is being blocked.

I thought the pilot was more about air?

The pilot curcuit has a fixed air jet and the pilot jet that we refer to. That pilot jet that we talk about is for fuel to mix with the fixed amount of air for the curcuit. So when you turn the screw in you are cutting off fuel not air. Turning the screw out adds fuel not air. hope this helps.

Re:Pilot Jet 1 Year, 10 Months ago
I'm just trying to find out if its supposed to have a hole in it,I removed all the jets when I cleaned my carb and the pilot jet was plugged up, I tried to push a very small piece of wire threw it but it wouldn't go, also tried to spray cleaner threw it and nothing would pass threw the center of the jet...I've been posting about the problems I've been having and I'm wondering if this is it.

Yes it sure could be your problem. The pilot jet is in play as soon as you start your bike all the way up to 1/4 throttle. It even allows some fuel along with the other circuits all the way up to wide open. If there is any doubt go buy a new one for a little over $3.00 it isn't worth messing with and if you muck up the hole it will mess things up.
