Darn, thats a good idea but why bother doing that if you dont have to.
If you use stabils new new much better & more potent Marine Grade fuel stablizer with 1oz per 5gal ratio when you put the bike away for storrage (running/riding a bit to get treated fuel into carb ) there is no need to do that in the spring, fireit up & go is all you need to do.
Same goes for storring classic cara/lawn mowers/weedwackers/etc usinf the longer term storrage mix ratio of 1oz /5gal fuel with marine grade stable and your good to go. I always use the onger term storrage ration to avoid issues if fuel stays in vehicle longer then expected.
Todays fuel with ethenol in it can start going bad in as little as 30-60 days which i have experienced with my mothers car this summer when it sat for approx 6 wks with non use due to an operation she had the fuel had already started to go bad in her Maxima, ran bad misfiring /bucking etc when it was running fine when last used . Fuel smelled bad kinda like terpentine when i removed the fuel cap to add the seafoam.
I had a feeling it was the ethenoled fuel starting to go bad with her car & that a healthy dose of seafoam would fix it which it did no problem & her car ran fine after that.

I would suggest draining from the *Reserve* position. Rayjay

Mark, this will be a good test for the Seafoam so ensure you mix a halthy dose of 1.5-1.75 oz Seafoam per gal fuel & see what that does .
I am veru curious to see how this turns out so please let us know the result ASAP.
BTW,if the bike doesnt seem to improve after dosing with seafoam and riding for a while dont forget to then let it sit over night with tretaed fuel soaking in carb untll next day and then taking if for another ride to see if it has cleared up after all night seafoam/treated fuel soak the carb got.
Good luck.

Ok I gave it the Seafoam treatment... dropped 6oz in the tank and went for a ride. Put about 25 miles on her and it seemed at times to be better, but still coughing so it's definitely not solved at this point. So she'll be sitting over night however... I won't be firing her up for a while and I'll start a new thread for that!

Well, I drove her down to the dealer this morning to put the new tires on and the bike still coughed and sputtered around the same throttle point. So even sitting on the Seafoam didn't help much. So I figured I'd best pull the carb and see what I've got.
Well, I pulled it and around the needle & diaphragm area was all black and sooty. I found oily deposits in the rubber sleeve connecting my hypercharger to the carb. The float area and jets were all sparkling clean, but I gave everything a healthy dose of carb cleaner nonetheless.
Now here's the sucky part! While just leaning over at one point, something twinged in my lower back! Crap, now I feel like a cripple! I almost wasn't able to stand back up it was that bad! So I'm just trying to get myself to a decent enough state before I take the bike out to test.
Now that my bike is probably fine, I'm not!!

Sorry to hear about you back, hope it gets batter soon.
Anyway, maybe the slide was a gumed up/dirty sticking at times causing the issue & hopefully the carb cleaning with correct it.
But if the carb clean didnt get it done maybe you need to take the top off the carb again to look for a pinhole ,rip ,or some kind of damage in general to it causing your runability issues since you said it was runnig ok end of season last yr and all the sudden ran poorly this season with nothing done to the bike.
But this is assuming you got the carb completely/proper clenaed out so pilot jets/pilot circut etc are all clean & clear.

Well I sucked it up as far as the pain in my back and took it out for a ride. She definitely felt much better overall. However, as I was riding I remembered not tightening a couple of things up properly (manifold seal, seal to hypercharger). As I was nearing home, I started to notice a slight hesitation again. Not as bad as before, but it was there. I'm going to tighten everything up again, check the needle and make sure all is good.

Hesitation could be a lean situation because the clamps weren't all tightened up.

That was my thought too... I'll know for sure how things are tomorrow as I'm going for a good 3-4 hour ride.
Well, I've got her all "buttoned up" now, all clamps properly tightened! I decided to take one last look at the needle slide while I had the tank off and noticed it felt pretty rough. I took some fine steel wool to it and buffed it up, blasted it clean with carb cleaner and slid it back in. I'm hoping that part of my problem was due to a sticky slide.
Oh, and in all of this I've been working with my tweaked lower back. My wife has been great, as I needed her to help me with getting the gas tank on and off the bike. I've got a good one here!

AHH,yes a dirty/sticky throttle slide could possibly be whats left of your runability issue after you get all the claps tight on the carb & intake etc.
So let us know if cleaning the carb slide did the trick.
BTW,did you also check the slide diaphram for damage as i suggested to do while you had it appart mult times?
Good luck!
