Pulsed Air Injection Reed valve.
The reed valves are there so exhaust doesn't flow back into the system.

So my AIS is gone and the points on the jugs where the hoses came in have little plates over them. Beyond that I need to block this pulse air injection reed valve.
Then this constant speed issue goes away, I'm hoping...

The valve is part of the AIS system you have removed. On the carbureted models it's a separate valve. I haven't looked at the FI models so I assume it's all contained in the same module.
I do know that the computer is calibrated for the AIS operation and disabling it may effect how the bike runs.
Constant speed operation is where the AIS is always working. It's designed to shut off during low vacuum full throttle acceleration and during high vacuum deceleration.

I completely removed the AIS from my '08 (with EFI) and didn't notice any difference in the way the bike runs except NO MORE BACKFIRING! I used the AIS removal kit that Baron's offers.

Well I guess it doesn't affect the operation except I though I had read a post somewhere where disconnecting it had caused the check engine light to come on. Maybe not.

Eureka!!!!
When I bought this bike I received at least three boxes of parts which the previous owner kept.
There was one O2 sensor in a box which I hooked up today and voila! The sputtering at constant speed is gone!
Oneperfectrun; my AIS is completely gone and with an O2 sensor, my bike has gotten over the sputtering. I hope you have similar luck.

Hook up the other O2 sensor and there may be even more difference.
I would wonder which wire hookup reads which O2 sensor and whether or not the computer averages the signals or keeps track of each individual cylinder. After all each cylinder has its own injector which can be independently controlled.

The O2 sensor wire that is clamped to the frame is for the front cylinder and the one from under the right side cover is for the rear cylinder.
BTW: I completely removed my Power Commander III USB tonight. The bike runs fine without it (thanks tsladden). If someone wants it, PM me. I'll sell it for a very good price.

If I had only one O2 sensor I would think it would be best to install it so it was reading the rear #1 cylinder. That's the cylinder that gets hotter and could end up being too lean if the O2 sensor is only reading the front cooler cylinder.
Just a thought.
