Well, that depends on a lot... Look at my sigpic for my settings...I'm at 5,600 feet above sea level, so I have to lean mine out quite q bit more than most. What elevation are you? And the jet kits usually give instructions to make you run on the rich side of things...

I am in Florida, @ sea level... Its hard to belive they would ask you to use the 200 DJ main, the Dynojet kit says needle on 4 slot and for good filter (modified air box) and good slip ons use the 200 main, that seems its going to be very rich from what I have read on this board but then I know very little about jetting with it was fuel injection ....

You are correct, with those settings you'll most likely be very rich.

I would suggest that you start with:

Main = DJ 180
Pilot = stock (#35)
Needle = washer, clip on 5th groove from top, white spacer, washer
PMS = 2.5 - 3 turns out

Do the WOT test as described in the Tech Tips.

Once the main is OK, drop the clip to the 4th groove, re-adjust the PMS using the in/out method and test drive when the engine is both cold and hot.

I just looked at the Dynojet jet kit and it brings the 165 and 170 then jumps to the 190 no 180, it brings a new pilot jet should I keep the stock one in?

Doc I took my carb apart and the main jet is not a 165 its a 182.5 on the cross refence chat on this site the next jet up DJ is the 195, why do I have on the 1700 a 182.5 and not a 165?

You are correct, unfortunately the kit does not come with the jets that would be most useful - 175, 180 and 185. You can try the 170 but it's usually too lean. Just pick up the 3 that are missing (at least 175 and 180).

The stock on the 1700 is a Mikuni 182.5 and on the 1600 it's the Mikuni 165.

The stock jet on the 1700 is too rich if you jet for new pipes and airbox, and too lean for the 1600.

Go to Dynojet.com then under powersports look for jet assortments. They sell them for 2 bucks a piece. Maybe your local dealer can get them as well.BB
