Just in case no one has posted a pic of the Grizzly Needle valve... here it is.
And a link to a bigger pic of it. Grizzly Valve

Thanks for posting that. I've tried to describe the flat sides but seeing it is really the only way. Those holes on 2 sides are what makes it flow so good.

It's the float valve from a Yamaha 660 Grizzly. It can replace the Road Star float valve to allow for pumpless operation. As you can see from the holes in the side it's designed for gravity flow.

I think I may do this over the winter. Less junk on the bike is always a good thing.

Would this solve the carb from throwing-up fuel into the air filter from time to time. Looks like I might have a float outta wack at times. Doesn't happen all the time and usually after I've been riding awhile.

What you're experiencing may be from heat. Some folks have stopped it by shutting off the petcock before stopping. I cured mine by wrapping the float bowl in aluminum foil, shiny side out.

It also could be from a high float level. Getting rid of the fuel pump may help. It does open up the left side so air flow is better.

Aluminum foil? Sounds interesting. Aluminum does resist heat fairly well.

Worked for me. Radiant heat is the biggest problem and it can be reflected. Hold your hand close to the engine and it becomes obvious. Heat from convection will still get through but stopping the radiant heat seems to help a lot.
